Uptown Historical Society Kick-Off Tour of Uptown

Welcome to kick-off of the Uptown Historical Society! Uptown has a rich history, and a group of long-time residents have been working to capture this history to share it with interested people. As part of the kick-off, we are hosting an exclusive bus tour that showcases the buildings and people that have made Uptown the wonderful and diverse neighborhood it is today.

We will have a kick-off of the Uptown Historical Society at Sheridan Plaza, with speakers and a reception at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th. This will also be the 60th anniversary celebration of the Uptown Chicago Commission, a non-profit neighborhood organization that has worked diligently to ensure that Uptown has remained a safe, diverse and prosperous neighborhood.

At 2:30 p.m., a bus will depart for a one hour tour of several well-known and not-so-well known Uptown landmarks. This tour will be led by Uptown historian Martin Tangora, who will entertain you with his in-depth knowledge of the buildings, people and stories that make Uptown such a wonderful place.

The reception is free, but the bus tour is $20 to cover the cost of the bus rental.
